Robotics, competitions, and talks

Most of my time outside the lab goes to SCAR, Rutgers' VEX U robotics team. The rest goes to hackathons, speaking, and teaching.

§1SCAR Robotics

Rutgers IEEE · VEX U · President & Build Lead · Jan 2025 – Present

  • Lead a 150+ person team across mechanical, electrical, and software subteams through the full build-to-competition cycle each season.
  • Own the roster, a $25,000+ budget, sponsorship outreach, funding proposals to university departments, and travel grants for Worlds.
  • Implemented PID motion control and X-drive holonomic kinematics in PROS (C++), raising the autonomous routine to 110 points with path tracking inside 8 cm.
  • Train incoming members in the team's build process and code, and started Aether, a shared C++ framework for future seasons.
  • 2025–26

    Worlds rank 17 (Top 20) · Push Back · President, co-captain

  • 2024–25

Worlds Top 25 · High Stakes · Lead

§2CAD & custom parts

Every robot subsystem starts as an Onshape assembly. Custom parts — motor carts, intake rollers, color sorters, chassis panels — are designed in-house and printed in SUNLU PETG or PLA on our Elegoo printers.

How Myndful addresses gaps in school mental-health resources, and designing chat interfaces students will actually use.

§5Teaching and mentoring

  • 2026

    Research mentor · Q-Sim Laboratory (Aresty-funded undergraduate)

Onboarded a new researcher onto the hBN project: ODMR, sample preparation, SRIM, and reviewing the analysis.

§6Earlier: high school

  • 2022–23

    President · FRC Team 7587

Team strategy, fundraising, and outreach, overseeing build, programming, and competition prep.

  • 2021–22

Programming Lead · FRC Team 7586

Autonomous and driver-assist software in Java/WPILib: vision processing and control-loop tuning.

  • 2022

Congressional App Challenge winner (NJ-06) · U.S. House of Representatives

For Myndful, an AI mental-health chatbot later used by 6,000+ students.

§7Outside of this

Guitar, mostly Pink Floyd and The Beatles. I lift. I probably spend more time on robotics than I need to for any specific competition goal, but that's fine — I like building things.

The rest goes to friends, trying restaurants I haven't been to yet, and long drives where I'm not really going anywhere.
